Adobe Shockwave Player Installation Guide

The Adobe Shockwave Player is a web browser add-in to allow additional video or nimation content to be displayed on many web sites.

Installing the latest version of the Shockwave player when a system is being built and set-up is preferable to the end user of the system finding some web sites do not behave or work as expected and possibly having to seek assistance to resolve the issue.

 

To download and install Shockwave, go to www.adobe.com. A recent version of the Adobe home page is shown below:

Click on the "Download" button or link at the top of the page to see the available downloads:

 

On the downloads page shown below, click the "Get Adobe Shockwave Player" option under "Readers and Players":

The Adobe shockwave player download page is then displayed as shown below:

<Click> the "Agree and Install Now" button.

 

The "User Account Control" security screen should then be displayed as shown below <Click> "Yes" to proceed:

NOTE: On the next screen, take care to UNTICK the option "Include Google Chrome along with Adobe hockwave Player" as shown below and then <Click> the "Next >" button:

The Shockwave installer will then download and install the required files and a basic Shockwave animation will display as shown below to confirm the installation has completed and is functioning correctly:

To download other Adobe software such as "Adobe Acrobat Reader", click on the "Download" button at the top of the screen, or close Internet Explorer if finished.
